Dwarf production updates wanted:)

If you are correct, on our list there are the rest of beta pledges and the Super Early Bird before

I personally can understand your frustation and your feedback is more than valid (the same applies to what @Austin73 said before). We are trying to improve overall so all will be taken in consideration from now on. And thanks for being so kind to share it with us.
I will try to cover your as best as possible your questions.

No, they didn’t. We finish the fulfillment for EU, now we are missing mainly US and UK

The feedback from the beta units couldn’t be better, some of it was even already implemented on new firmware releases. Yet there were a few units for the betas getting stopped in the office with a few different issues that took quite a bit to get solved (the fixes are being applied and tested as I write you this and some devices are actually getting ready to be shipped - meaning, working and waiting to be fulfilled). Besides of a few failed attempts to fix the issues, the pilot production test at the factory dates arrived and that caused a couple of stopped weeks on the research for solutions for these units…consequences of our limited resources and “hands”.

What do you mean? There are units getting ready, but not on that scale. But I’m not totally updated on the production (at the factory) status.

We can’t really control what people posts/shares or not and not even the reviews publishing (since they are independent). There is a private thread on this forum for the beta backers where some users report a few things. The reason why was private was mainly based on potential bugs on the first units that could be more problematic. We are not really having those reports at the moment. Some weeks ago we talked internally about opening this thread, lack of resources (time and “hands”) made it stay on hold (it is a simple gesture of opening it up, but it may also result in way more questions, comments and feedbacks to manage) and the subject somehow vanished with the thoughts of “let’s do it when we ship more devices”. This is happening, so maybe soo, indeed, we should open it up.

No worries, it’s fine to ask for clearance. We are using it to improve

I totally understand and agree with your feedback and, again, open to improving communication (I believe that as I am, all MOD team is as well). I would just make a little note that those 300 units were shown two weeks ago (and were just enclosures, but that’s not really a point since the enclosers will “cover” the device). Those devices are still in production.
Some things are also super unexpected on our side as well. I can tell you that all the beta shipping labels are “sitting” on my desk since before Christmas. Not any sort of comparison here, but just to show you that we were also expecting to ship them way earlier.

This is correct. I try to answer all of them. What a lot of times happens is that our own expectations also get affected and our plans end up changing. That’s as well the reason why some of the answers can be a bit vaguer, so the expectations don’t spike and then fall uncontrollably.

We try to do that as much as possible. Not just with the forum. We had a lot of feedback regarding the lack of Kickstarter/Indiegogo updates, so we decided to set a more strict schedule and do our best to keep it. The feedbacks were even already implemented on the Dwarf features (maybe a bit less visible here).

It’s normal to feel frustrated and we understand it. We also feel it. It’s not comfortable to manage this situation, not only on the communication with you, backers that supported us and keep your patience and support but also on the other side managing all the contains that, for example, the situation on electronics industry causes on our procurement and production plans.

That said, all your feedback is more than welcome and we will try to do our best to take it into account. On your side we just ask you to consider all our limitations caused by a lot of different reasons. Those can result in the impossibility or slow application of that feedback.
Certainly, without this community and your support, the MOD Dwarf (or MOD Devices) wouldn’t exist. So we can’t be less than super thankful to all of you.

Hi Jon – sorry to add to the questions – as I’m sure you are busy doing other things! Mine was a super early bird pledge (I think I was possibly even the last one to get that before they ran out – which was incentive for me to order it quickly! ) if that means anything. I didn’t realise the numbering worked in that way.

Thanks for the responses Jon - I know its tough for everyone involved in either making the units or pledging. And responding to my epic tome hasnt helped speed things up ; )

Maybe instead of drip feeding us do a 1 week or 2 week update regularly then we / I wont be constantly badgering you for more info. Although I feel a control chain thread coming on ; )

Appreciate your time and stay safe

If I act like I want to buy one through the retail website, it says it will deliver in 2-4 weeks. Does this mean that units are ready/nearly-ready to get shipped out to the early kickstarters? Have any retail units shipped that weren’t bought through crowd funding? I am a kickstarter supporter in the 400’s, so I don’t expect mine in the first wave, but I do want to have some idea of when to expect it.

The super early bird type of pledges are the crowdfunding pledges that we will fulfill immediately after finishing the beta

Not sure if you have been following the Kickstarter updates, but, upon request, we have been doing it on a 2-week basis for two months or so. Actually, in the last weeks, we had even 1 per week (because of production at the factory)

I feel that on your questions that you miss reading some Kickstarter updates where we explain what is happening with the direct sales and the fulfilment of crowdfunding as well as the reasons for such hard decisions.

I love you all!! Thank you!

That would be a great solution, but then I’m left with the question of where to send/update my address (pretty sure Kickstarter does not allow for two shipping addresses that are date-dependent), along with taking it on faith that the MOD team will be heads up enough to apply this if/then shipping date criteria to my individual order… which seems like a lot to ask when they’re just trying to get it out the door. If there was some way they could estimate, e.g. “Kickstart backers 300-500, units will be shipped the week of July 1” or something like that, I could just change the address or leave it without worrying about if it’s going to be shipped to my old address in a different country. If you have any helpful feedback I’m all ears!

All these speeches without factual figures or schedules are more disturbing than anything else, I will stop all communication here without much hope for a positive end in the next quarter, later seems an unattainable horizon.

haha it’s just my work to answer you, keep you up to date and overall happy.
P.S.: I can’t wait for that beer. Please ping me when you are around Berlin

Hopefully with the production up and running with no more issues it will get a bit easier to do what you request.
Anyway, if any of you may need to update their address it’s ok to DM me the new one and the date when you move. I can leave a note on our fulfilling document with that.

Hello, I’m not sure if this is the right place for this as it’s a response to the Kickstarter backers survey. Despite itching to get my hands on my dwarf I would probably fit in the “I love you guys” category. I also really like the dwarf’s current look so am unsure if the benefits of waiting longer will feel like benefits. Any chance that we can get a bit of info on the potential superficial changes to make it a bit easier to stay happily patient?

I’m also really curious about the details of the “I love you guys” category. I definitely fall into that category, as I’m in no rush. I have a duo to play with and I’m not actively gigging or anything at the moment. But I’m really curious about the colour and the custom engraving. Will the engraving be a message such as “I love you guys”, or will it be our names, or band names or something like that?

I don’t really care for any of the perks and currently have a DuoX to play with, so I choose the 3rd option (although I hope that things progress in such a way that we can get it earlier, of course  )

Hey João (@jon).

I have one question about the Kickstarter last update. My pledge is the “For Brazil only”. I think that the shipping will be a different progress.
I would like to ask you if is necessary to response the requested Google Form.

Thanks

Hello,

super early bird here, I’m glad to read the first units are shipping.

I took the survey, even though the method is a bit strange, and feels again like “nay, you can’t have it yet, but wait more and you’ll get more”.

I’ll be really happy when I get the device, hopefully. Production constraints sure sound tough, less fun and fair than software development, still it’s a minimum to be honest with the backers, and that felt a bit ovelooked.

I hope it’s now feeling better for the team too.

p.s. there is no deadline for the survey, please just don’t delay for another couple weeks “we still wait for people to fill the survey”, would you ?
