Custom controller firmware with plugin parameter editing [3]
To enable parameter grouping, I’ll need to annotate and distribute the turtle plugin descriptor files.
I’m still figuring out the best approach for this, but you can already try some examples [4] by uploading them to the Dwarf via SSH.
Enjoy
Here’s the very first thing I played to try this version: I just picked up my guitar and recorded directly into the Dwarf using Brummer’s stereo recorder
So far everything works flawless, I only noticed a very small glitch on the onboard plugin modification page: sometimes, the parameters still show label “KNOB 1” (or 2 or 3 according to the position) in the background, while the actual control is displayed on top. I noticed it on Chow Centaur “mode” parameter, or in some parameter of LP3 Basic, but i guess can happens anywhere; it’s no big deal as the parameters works flawlessy and by navigating the pages the glithc disappear.
Performance mode is working great too, and it’s very handy on a small screen. The only thing i noticed is that if you are in portrait mode the icons on the left frame are very far one to each other, while in landscape mode they are just perfect. Again, it’s nothing to worry about because to edit a plugin parameter you really need to be in landscape mode, otherwise the controls are to small.
Another improvement it would be the possibility to change the buffer frame size directly on the device.
Sorry if I post here instead of opening a github issue, i’m not very familiar with the tool.
I really enjoy your work, it’s a great improvement on dwarf usability.
Thanks!
I’ll add a small bug: when you re-enter in the plugin list on device, the list highlights the plugin selected when you previously left the list, but the real selection points to the first element instead.
I also noticed that in the edit view the encoders won’t work as buttons: you have to rotate them. I don’t think that’s a bug, I just point out a difference to the standard behavior, but it’s up to you
Latest update for plugin parameters edit: there are some parameters that, although shown, are not editable. I haven’t been able to find similarities to give you a better description.
I also found out that some parameters, although editable both in fine and coarse mode, allows to move in too large increments. One of those is the gain plugin, it seems that is only possible to alter the value in more than one (or more) db increments.
Si installa come un qualsiasi aggiornamento normale:
Fai partire il dwarf in modalità aggiornamento
Connettilo al pc
Copia il file tar nel dwarf
Disconnettilo come fatesti con una qualsiasi penna usb
L’aggiornamento dovrebbe partire automaticamente.
Per far partire il dwarf in modalità aggiornamento: accendilo mentre tieni premuto per circa 5 secondi il footswitch 1 e l’encoder 1 (sono quelli più a sinistra)
