Need for beat perfect tempo sync at core level

I think one issue (for me) also seems to be that the transport doesn’t always accurately start with an MTC start signal. So this way the sequencer or arpeggiator can easily be misaligned with the source start.

This combined with the added jitter can really be quite impossible to use.

right, another thing to take into consideration too.
I was just talking with Robin @x42 regarding how Ardour does the MTC side, have some good pointers for things to look into once MOD can dedicate some time for this.

updating the step sequencer is still a good step, and allows to quickly test/check if the clock sync is working proper.
and I am thinking having such clock as CV pulse in Cardinal might be quite handy too, for driving things based on a hardware timing rather than the DAW/Host.

A post was split to a new topic: MIDI 2.0 support

Reviving this topic as I thought it was fairly important.

Just booted up my MOD dwarf a few days ago. I plan to use it in my liveset consisting of TR-8s as master, Microfreak, a few volca’s, streichfett, Lyra 8.

The audio side of my dwarf would just be purely audio processing and effects, so the clock, internal or external doesn’t matter. But what really was important and enticing to me was the fact that I could also use the dwarf as a sequencer to program my streichfett.

Now I boot everything up and the first thing I notice is that this is impossible… Very dissapointing! I tried the usb slave port to both my tr-8s and my microfreak to get the midi sync over usb, no go, the sequencer quickly loses sync. I tried over DIN directly from the tr-8s, also bad.

And yet by reading your post I kinda don’t get why nobody has made a sequencer plugin yet that directly reads the midi clock pulses as you described. The standard step sequencer plugin, is this made by the mod team itself? If so can we request an option to select the midi clock pulse instead of LV2 as you described? are there other workarounds since you worte this post?

Cheers!
