Hi everyone!
Call me Nico â even though it might not be the easiest name to pronounce in English!
Iâve been an amateur guitarist for many years, with varying levels of dedication depending on what was going on in my life. I recently dove back into music â not just playing guitar, but also computer-based music production, and more recently, dipping my toes into the world of modular synthesis. On the professional side, Iâm a computer scientist turned computer science teacher, and a committed Linux user. My music production workflow is still Windows-dependent for now (Ableton was more or less imposed on me), but Iâm being very careful to only use Linux-compatible plugins to make my upcoming migration to Bitwig as smooth as possible!
Anyway, I stumbled upon Mod Audio and it completely blew my mind! An open-source platform for guitar, bass, ukulele, and even synths, running on Linux? That actually exists?! Full 180 on my pedalboard â Iâm selling off my pedals and currently in the process of getting a Dwarf! Hereâs hoping for the best and many great years ahead!

Mon workflow MAO est pour lâinstant encore dĂ©pendant de windows (on mâa plus ou moins imposĂ© ableton pour le moment) mais je fais trĂšs attention Ă ne travailler quâavec des plugin compatibles linux pour faciliter ma migration trĂšs prochaine sur bitwig !
Bref, je tombe par hasard sur la marque Mod Audio et câest la rĂ©volution dans ma tĂȘte ! Une plateforme opensource, pour guitare/basse/ukulĂ©lĂ© et mĂȘme synthĂ©s, tournant sous linux ? ça existe ? Virage Ă 180 sur mon pedal board, je revends mes pĂ©dales et je suis en cours dâacquisition dâun Dwarf ! JâespĂšre pour le meilleur et de nombreuses annĂ©es !

Hi, everyone. I go by Rage. Iâve never used any guitar pedals or amps, Iâve always just plugged my guitar directly into an audio interface and written and recorded music that way. So, Iâm pretty new to creating pedal boards, since Iâve always just used presets from guitar rig. Iâm looking forward to learning a whole new way of playing the guitar.

According to the description of your experience, I would start by diving as well on the Pedalboards Feed and trying other users shared pedalboards.

BTW new version of guitarmidi-lv2 is out for Linux, it is much improved. I am currently working to port it to the dwarf

Hello. New user from Finland Trying to learn how to use the web system, as I was pondering buying the mod device to use liveâŠbut it seems very very hard to use.
Iâve been running Ableton Live! And the NAM gateway player live on a laptop, and now interested in maybe being able to create simple tones in MOD and then maybe get the physical device, and be able to run NAM based batches live with just that.

Ah, seemed to send too quickâŠanyway.
Canât get the MOD system to work anywhere like Iâd want it to. I can get sound thru, get the tuner working for instance, but if I load NAM models or drop in the AIDA-X, none of it makes any difference to the sound whatsoever. I canât even figure out where to get models for AIDA.
If I drop ibn a drive pedal, that I can hear just fine.
I think it would greatly help if there were some ready-made presets or a way to browse presets made by others, but for some reason it just gives me a blank canvas - in the factory preset mode thereâs a couple of synths, no guitar presets at all.
Is this really this difficult, one has to manually copy every file to user files subfolder and manually load and build and set up every module? When I look at the wiki the guide shows all kinds of âfactory presetsâ but I canât see any in my web view.

I think youâre using MOD Desktop, which doesnât support downloading pedalboards yet.
With the exception of Synth pedalboards, youâll need to create pedalboards manually.

Thanks! Yeah Iâve downloaded some NAM models and also Aida models but there doesnât seem to be any way to load/change them in the aida block. in the nam block I can load a profile but it does not make any difference to sound whatever I load there, sound just goes thru. IR block and distortions etc sound just fine.
Now I downloaded the AIDA standalone version, and that version actually has selections to choose the amp and IR modelsâŠunlike the one inside the mod web interface. Canât really do much at all in the web interface it seems. But itâs a beta. Maybe at some point itâll become usable to try out amp models as well and not just drives and FX.
Iâll refrain from buying the physical system though, until I can try at least the basic features in the web player.
