Dwarf and BT

Hi,
Today I tested the BT connection to Dwarf from my phone (S22 ultra) and tablet (Samsung S4 tablet), one at time.
I’ve follow the Wiki manual and the connection is Ok.
On Dwarf, under setting BT the status is Connected, on both phone and tablet, under BT connection the device is Connected (wifi off) but when I open Crome with the right address, after some try it goes in Time Out.
There’s no way to have a connection with the GUI!

Do you have suggestions?

Has worked for me in the past. Make sure you are using http and not https.

Yes, I’m sure the address I have inserted is http://192.168.50.1/

Can offer little help then. I haven’t tried with latest software, but I did get the UI up on my S7 tablet a few weeks back.

Hi, can you check the firmware BT side?

I have neke this test:
Dwarf BT key is Avantree rated as comoatible on wiki dicument
Phone Samsung S22 ultra
Phone Samsung A something (!don’t remember)
Tablet Samsung S4
Tablet Samsung A7
PC portable HP Pavilion dv6 (win10)
PC desktop (win11) with Asus BT key (gen 5)

With all this combination I have the right connection over BT (connect on Dwarf and phone/tablet/PC) but using Crome browser I have the same result: TIME OUT on connection at http://192.168.50.1

Can you suggest other tests?

Sooo… no one can help me? The BT connection is a must have! Not every time you play there is a Pc round the corner

What about step 6 in the HowTo?
Without this step it’s not possible to access the UI using Android Devices.
From the wiki page:

From here:
Bluetooth - MOD Wiki (moddevices.com)

Yes, I’ve follow all the wiki direction, so also step 6.
But nothing.
Dwarf and phone (or tablet or pc) are correctly connected (the Connect status is dusplayed on Dwarf and phone). But when I launch chrome with the right address (http://192.168.50.1) after a while it goes in TIME OUT error.

@Rino2 If it works for me, or someone else, but doesnt work for you, would this information be useful to help you pinpoint the problem on your side?

@Rino2 do you have the WLAN switched off in your Android?

Yes, it’s mandatory because if I don’t disable it I can’t complete step 6 of the wiki and the internet connection via BT is not enabled.
I think the problem lies in Chrome, in the setup, but I can’t find it

If there is something wrong with Chrome and the connection to the dwarf with your devices you should try another browser.
I think you can use Edge or Firefox on Android as well.
I have successfully established a connection between a Samsung Tablet and my dwarf after following the instructions from the wiki page.
Are your devices controlled by mdm from your employer or something similar? Maybe there are some security settings that prevent the connection.

That’s a good assumption. Have you tried an incognito session or another browser?

Yes tried incognito session and Edge and Firefox.
Nothing change…

Tomorrow I’ll write a message while I’m connecting Dwarf with BT. BT connection LIVE
In this way you can see if I made something wrong
It’s unbelievable!! It’s not the first time I connect a device to my phone and I have workeD for years with a computer…

Don’t punish yourself
Are you using a new/different dongle from what you used when all was working fine?

??? I’ve never used a dongle on Dwarf and never on PC. My partable PC has BT inside and if I use BT on desktop one I have a Asus Dongle BUT for Dwarf I bught a new one as suggested in wiki, it’s a Avantree DG40S.

OK… I have just finished my LIVE connection (try) here are all the steps writed while making them
1 - DWARF: BlueTooth USB key inserted (Avantree DG40S), device on
2 - DWARF: check in Menu-> Settings-> BlueTooth for STATUS: disconnected, NAME: Dwarf
(custom name), ADDRESS: 00:15:83:FF:F1:FE
3 - TABLET: (Samsung Tab S4, Android v.10), WLAN (Wi-Fi) OFF, BlueTooth ON
4 - DWARF: Select Enable Discovery OK button
5 - TABLET: On BT section select Dwarf and pair, after paired (connected) select device settings and activate Internet Access (active by default)
6 - DWARF: check in Menu-> Settings-> BT for STATUS: Connected, NAME: Dwarf
(custom name), ADDRESS: 00:15:83:FF:F1:FE
7 - TABLET: Open Chrome and insert BT web address http://192.168.50.1
8 - TABLET: after some time (LED on BT key flashing) Error 192.168.50.1 took too long to respond
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

NOTE: On Tablet I also downloaded Edge and FireFox but the connection is impossible and always with the same error
NOTE1: The same steps above were tested on Samsung S22 ultra, Samsung A 52, Tablet Samsung A7 with the same error
NOTE2: I connected Dwarf with BT key (Avantree DG40S) to desktop PC with his BT key (Asus BT500 BT5.0) and the connection works

I didn’t understand this. If you never used a dongle it won’t’ work because the Dwarf doesn’t have a built-in Bluetooth chip…

…but here you say that you do use a dongle…so you got me confused

The steps you describe are all correct.
My question is: with exactly the same setup have you been able to pair before and now you are not?

Ok…so this makes it quite clear that the issue is on the Android side…

…although then this is weird because you tried it on multiple devices. Are all of them running the same android version? And which one is it?
As a matter of fact I personally already managed to pair with Android with no issues. I actually did the last revision on the wiki guidelines for that, I believe and tried it all at the time.
