Web UI over USB not working [SOLVED]

Update:
First of all, I deleted the following files from the Preference folder in Library:

com.apple.wifi.message-tracer.plist
NetworkInterfaces.plist
com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
com.apple.network.eapolclient.configuration.plist
preferences.plist

Then rebooted the computer.

I tried connecting again through my bookmarked link https://moddwarf.local/, it didn’t work.
I then went to system settings > network > details on the Dwarf Ethernet device and > WINS.

There was an IP there under WINS servers (192.168.51.1). This is the same one stated in the wiki, so I definitely have used this one before. It worked now.

Then I accidentally entered http://moddwarf.local/? (not https). It worked.

I don’t even know what’s going on. Maybe deleting the plist items worked? I don’t know.
The bookmarked https link… why had I saved it at https? That bookmark was the one that always worked before, so I don’t… I don’t know man.

Solved for now. I’m kind of hoping I get the issue again so I can go through the troubleshooting once more and see if the plist actually was the main difference this time or if I am genuinely losing my mind.

Glad you got it sorted! No idea what happened there, but these steps might be helpful for others in the future.

Are you saying that you have previously been able to access the web UI using https://?

The user guide mentions only http:// for all products. To me it is more strange that it has been working with https before in that case.
My guess is that the deleting of files had nothing to do with the solution, only changing to http alone.

Just guessing, but possibly Apple recently updated something on their end that disabled automatic reroutes to http from https (when no certificate is available), which is why https used to work before.
