I have just received my Mod Dwarf and am familiarizing myself with al of the options, particularly with navigating changes using the pedal. Whenever I change to, or turn the unit on when Paranoia is loaded, I get a horrible spike in volume in the form of a transient squeal. Has anyone else seen this behavior with this, or any other pre-programed settings?
I have almost the same problem… Every time I turn on my Mod Dwarf, there is a very loud squealing noise (not using Paranoia). Almost blew my ears out once. When turning off and on for a second time, the squealing goes away, but the sound is really distorted. When turning off and on for a THIRD time, it is quiet.
I got my Mod Dwarf almost three years ago and I really wanted to love it… but had too many problems with it. I am still using my GNX3, which I wanted to replace. I also had to buy a different PSU to get rid of hum and a balanced-to-unbalanced-converter-thingy to connect it to my amp.
A couple of questions here @minolle:
- are you running the latest MOD OS version on your MOD Dwarf?
- does this happen even with an empty pedalboard?
- the third is…I understand that you are not using the original PSU, can you tell us a bit more about the PSU that you are using? Does it happen also with the original one? (even if you face noise issues with the original one, does this booting behaviors happens?)
Hey @jon
Thanks for replying!
- I am running 1.13.5.3315 currently.
- I did not try booting right into an empty pedalboard yet. But changing the pedalboard does not change the squealing noise.
- And yes, it happens with the original PSU too. First boot loud squealing noise, second boot distorted output(or input?), third boot clean. And the PSU i am using is the Thomann NT 1215. (I can’t seem post the link here…)
I bumped up your trust level and you should be able to post a link now.
@minolle it seems that it may have nothing to do with the PSU. Anyway, the results of the test with an empty pedalboard would be very welcome.
Can be a wild thing, but have you tried to connect to a different power plug? Eventually even in a different location?
Could you also describe to us a bit better your full setup? What do you have connected before the MOD Dwarf and after?
