UI disconnected/unavailable

Hi,

My first post.
Finally I managed to get my hands on a MOD Dwarf and i am amazed by its potential and all the things i can do with it. congrats for this achievement.
I have been using Linux for audio for about 10 years now (Ardour, KXstudio, Debian…)and i know many of the plugins the Dwarf includes, it’s a joy to have them also available on a small standalone box!

One thing i noticed the UI disconnects sometimes when plugged over USB and the only way to have it back is to power cycle the box.
Is there any way the web application can be restarted from the box or CLI?
I could not find any info in the troubleshooting section of the wiki.
Cheers

Thanks a lot for the nice words about the MOD Dwarf  It makes us really proud!

This is kind of a “newish” bug. What are the USB- B behavior settings that you are using?

I suggest you work with @jon on figuring out a real solution, but:

You can ‘reboot’ the device via SSH. From what I can tell it just reboots the GUI server, not actually the device itself. That should get it to reconnect for you though, and could be scripted (though I’m not sure the official stance would advise that.)

Use this info at your own risk. FWIW, I do not have these disconnection issues.

thanks @jon

on the linux side i don’t think i have any usb.autosuspend kernel parameter set, this is a Debian 10 system. I had few issues in the past with usb dongles where i had to force off this behaviour. I don’t think this is the case though because i never had such problems on this particular system (i use an akai-mini with same port and never had any issue with it.

The disconnection issue happened 2 or 3 times in total, however after 2 days of usage this weekend i did not experience the problem again. I will keep an eye on it and i will let you know how it goes this week.

I have noticed a strange behaviour with the browser may be worth noting. Basically firefox was trying to force a DNS resolution to www.moddwarf.local rather than http://moddwarf.local
It could be a red herring…

I will do some more testin and let you know

Thanks @FistfulOfStars
I see, thanks that’s useful to know.
Is that just reboot command or some other cammand? I will give it a go…

I still need to assess whether also the SSH connection gets disconnected together with the UI…I will do more testing

Yeah…this may happen sometimes. My advice is to use the http://192.168.51.1/

I no longer seen disconnections over USB however it happened a couple of times when i plugged in the USB the Dwarf, which was powered on for almost a week approx, was not detected at all running
dmesg on the OS.
Once i powered cycle the dwarf it was then detected and an IP assigned correctly.

I also plugged in a Wifi dongle to the Dwarf and i am doing further tests with both USB and WIFI.

Maybe something is happening when the device is powered on for long. We will investigate.
