Some meters might be nice?

greetings!

just thinking that some meter plugins would be nice, to help with gain-staging and other debugging while designing pedalboards. two categories of meters would be useful:

  1. audio - for checking audio levels at various points in a pedalboard chain. we’re currently “flying blind” with respect to levels, other than the “pass/fail” LEDs at in and out.

  2. MIDI - for inspecting what data is being passed along at various points, and to help tweak out whatever transformations we’re making to it along the way, with the MIDI scaling and re-mapping plugins.

information is power!

…anyone else hungry for some calibration?

That is a really nice idea and I´m already imagining a bunch of situations where this plugin could help built better pedalboards.

There is a meter plugin in the “unstable plugins”. It is programmed by X42. I think there is some room for improvement, but it works.

Hey @plutek

There is an audio meter coming out already.

@falkTX: does it also require 1.3?

The Midi shall not be problematic to be implemented as the software for getting that info is readily available.

You mean the level-meter by x42?
As @brusch mentioned it’s already on the non-stable section.

For a simple “receiving midi notes” led indicator, sure.
A full MIDI monitor plugin will require a few more things not in place at the moment (LV2 atom event transfer).
