PRSM ARC NAM models maxing out MOD Dwarf CPU – A1 vs A2 Lite?

Hi everyone,

I’m fairly new to using NAM on the MOD Dwarf, so I’m hoping someone can help me understand what’s happening.

I recently purchased the Amalgam PRSM ARC NAM DI pack, which is based on the PRS Archon amp. I was really excited to use these captures, but when I load one of the PRSM ARC NAM files on my MOD Dwarf, the CPU usage gets extremely high and basically maxes out the Dwarf.

I made sure the NAM plugin is set to Lite, but I still have the same CPU issue.

What confused me is that I previously downloaded some of Amalgam’s free NAM captures from TONE3000 (I believe the Vox and Marshall captures), and those work very well on my Dwarf. I can actually run two of those NAM captures at the same time without the same CPU problem.

So I’m trying to understand:

  • Are the purchased PRSM ARC captures possibly A1 / Standard NAM models?
  • Can A1 NAM models be used efficiently on the MOD Dwarf?
  • Does setting the NAM plugin to Lite actually make an A1 model lighter, or does the model itself need to be trained/exported as A2 Lite?
  • Is there any way to convert or “slim” an existing A1 NAM capture for use on the Dwarf?
  • Or would I specifically need an A2 Lite version of the PRSM ARC captures from Amalgam?

I already contacted Amalgam as well since this is a pack I paid for, but I wanted to ask here because I’m still learning the differences between A1, A2, Full and Lite NAM models.

I’ve attached a screenshot showing the CPU usage on my MOD Dwarf.

I think you need a A2 lite version to get it running smoothly. I run 2 lite models in parallel with added effects like in your second screenshot.

Do they have a portal/account you can log in? perhaps you can download newer versions because often NAM profile suppliers offer re-learned models for free after purchase.

I tried to figure out, diging thorugh the model file how te determine the difference but I couldn’t find something that gives you a hard yes or no on A1/A2.

By my knowledge there is no way to just convert A1 into A2 withou proper re-learning; something the supplier should do.

bottom line: They should get back to you with a proper answer :wink:

Side note:
Keep in mind though, as soon as you reboot the Dwarf, it will jump to full model; even though you saved the preset as lite.

Thanks for the information. I should have read it more carefully before I ordered. Lesson learned.

Let’s see what they say.

If they are a bit professional, they should offer it without extra cost.

Worst case, we guys on this community here can figure out what the best way is to retrain those models into a A2 version.
