MOD Dwarf oscillates at startup (input signal oscillation) — looking for a fix

Post:

Hello,

I’d like to ask for advice regarding a startup issue with my MOD Dwarf.

Recently, when powering on the MOD Dwarf, the input signal starts oscillating immediately at startup.

Symptoms (observed behavior)

  • Right after power-on, the input signal is routed to the output in an unintended way and oscillation occurs
  • This happens regardless of routing, pedalboard content, or plugin configuration
  • On startup, there are cases where oscillation occurs and cases where the unit starts normally
  • Previously this happened only rarely, but the frequency of oscillation at startup has clearly increased
  • When oscillation occurs, power-cycling the device sometimes results in a normal startup

Changing settings or simplifying pedalboards has not resolved the issue, so it appears to be related to the startup behavior itself, rather than configuration.

Questions

  • Has anyone experienced a similar startup oscillation issue with the MOD Dwarf?
  • Are there any known fixes or effective troubleshooting steps for this problem?
  • Has anyone successfully resolved this issue by reinstalling firmware or using “Reflash controller”?

The issue seems to be getting worse over time, and I’m trying to determine the most realistic next step.

Any information or shared experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi
I sometimes have an oscilation on boot when the Dwarf is very hot, I don’t remember if those came from the input, not sure I could send those oscilation into a pedalboard.
I have to let the Dwarf cool down to get it work without this…
No clue where this come from

Same issue here. Usually when editing or loading a heavy peadlboard. That’s why I avoid changing pedalboards during a live performance.
No solution except waiting 1 or 2’ before reboot. Never happens at first boot.

Hi everyone,

Thank you very much for the replies — they were very helpful.

Just to give an update from my side: the issue is currently resolved, at least for now.

What I did was:

  • Factory Reset
  • Disconnected and reconnected all power-related connections
(power adapter, cables, checking all connections again)

After doing this, the startup oscillation has not reappeared so far.

After reading the comments from Rom and zwabo, it seems possible that temperature or internal state (such as loading or editing heavy pedalboards) could be related in some cases.

If the issue comes back, I’ll keep an eye on the conditions before startup and observe whether there is any pattern.

Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
I hope this update is useful for anyone experiencing a similar problem.
