Loading interface issue

Hello everyone!
There is something happening since the last update I made to OS version 1.12.1.2978 on my Mod Duo X. Everytime I open the interface I get this “loading pedalboard” message for a very long time. It finally starts only after refreshing many times the interface page in the browser. I think it has nothing to do with the internet connection, I checked it and it’s OK. Does anyone have any idea ? Thanx, guys.

It is quite probable that you were as greedy as me, and had installed all the possible plugins from beta and non beta store.

At least that’s how I’d ended up with having the same slow loading as you

Removing unused beta plugins should speed up things in theory.

Most probably it spends all that time listing installed plugins, loading thumbnails and metadata for them.

Yes, I think you’re right. I’ve never thought about this.
Of course, I am greedy when it comes to these wonderful plug-ins  I just didn’t realize that too many of them would slow down the whole thing… I see what I can do to keep only the usable ones. Thank you so much.

You have 794 plugin installed…this will take a very long time to load…maybe look at shaving off at least 150-200 plugins to get down to acceptable load times…anything over 500 takes a bit to load and it’s not fun.

Of course, it makes sense. I just forgot about this loading issue every time the unit starts.

It always takes ages for me with 399 plugins installed.

After this initial time which is a long time, changing pedalboards takes around 5 seconds to be displayed, I find it very slow.

Ok, let’s say I can take this long time for plugins to load. But the problem is that while loading I’m not sure if the unit is still loading or blocked/crashed. So, if I refresh the interface everything starts all over again….

I find it best to wait.

I just opened up a new chrome browser Window to my moddwarf (already had another window open displaying the mod),it took over 10 seconds to display with only one pedal in the board.

It is not quick.

@qtguy20000 this can depend on a lot of things but never really on the Internet connection speed since you are doing a local connection into your MOD. That uses a browser but it’s not dependent on the internet and the only things that make any sort of usage of the internet in the WebGUI are the cloud connection and (also related to the cloud) the plugin store. But even in a place without internet, you will be able to access the WebGUI (just not the plugin store for example).

@qtguy20000 and @AndyCap the speed that the pedalboard loads and shows up depend on a few things. As @ignis32 and @micahvdm pointed out the number of plugins installed is one of them, so it is the number of pedalboards stored on the device, the number of files in the file manager, etc.
Another thing that influences quite a lot and I’m sensing that it is your case @AndyCap is how heavy are the plugins in the pedalboard that is loaded. If the plugin requires more CPU and RAM it will take more to load the pedalboard and vice-versa.

Hi @jon

I don’t think we are talking about pedalboard load times but rather how long it takes for the user interface to be displayed in the browser.

So the timings I put up are when the pedalboard is already loaded and are just the time it takes to render the web page.

So 10 seconds to display the web page with the pedalboard already loaded.

Hi @AndyCap,

Sorry, maybe I explained myself a bit badly and missed a fairly important point on that particular side.
Besides everything that I wrote before the particular showcase on the WebGUI also depends on the browser and cache. For example, if the images of the GUI of all plugins are stored in the cache of your browser, the loading time is expected to be faster and vice-versa.

Takes about 15 seconds to open pedalboard interface with 595 plugins installed.

Still much better than when I had with ALL 830+ plugins before removing tons of beta tuna can plugins, which I do not know what are for anyway, due to the lack of descriptions. I do not know exactly how long it it was with 830+, but feels much better now, even if still not perfect.

It was a hard decision to do that cleanup though, after insolvency story there is a strong desire to download and stash all the possible plugins I could just in case, to have them locally forever no matter what happens further.

Probably, if could have a local plugin store mirror with all the plugins, or “archive” currently unused plugins somehow on the MDX device itself - I could reduce loading times seriously, by keeping only really used plugins.
