Is the DuoX still good?

hi sorry add this here as a reply but i could see an option add a new post as a newbie

I have been offered a mod duo x (one with the power switch) - i was debating if it worth it and if support is still good in terms of plug ins etc + i know its a legacy product , but it still looks powerful and unique.

i tested the desktop app on my mac with latest OSX and that seems to work

thanks for moving my post - appreciated
am i missing something , but where do you add new topic?

or is because I’m a new user , I’m not seeing it

Probably. Discourse adds all kinds of (obfuscated) limitations on new accounts.

it is as flexible and unique as ever, though these days it lacks a bit on the power front, there’s still enough to do whatever you want, within a reasonable set of CPU limits. There are some quirks of the interface/GUI that would ideally have been fixed by now… but still, it’s a fantastic device and can be used in so many ways…

Thanks

I used to have the ploy Hector, the module version of their pedal . Bebo

That was quite cool …albeit fiddly with the touch screen , i stopped using it as it was a of pain in practice…shame tho

I’ve yet to find anything that comes close in terms of versatility of software and usefulness of hardware. If the DuoX suddenly ceased to exist, a whole ton of things that it makes possible in my music would be impossible to recreate… I love it

Unearthing and dusting off my MOD DuoX… Would love to hear how you’re using yours!

Doesn’t the Duo X have more CPU power than any of the others, including the dwarf?

Yes.
Although (imo) the MOD Dwarf is way more versatile on interactions (things like the pagination, endless encoders, Navigation Mode, etc.)

But we have way more pages of controls on the DuoX no?

I still really like the DuoX formfactor and knobs <3

I’m in the same boat here. Love the pages of controls, love the form factor. It’s become a crucial part of most of my projects, so much so that I had to get a backup unit.

Yes and no (I guess, because I didn’t really do the maths ). On the MOD Duo X you have only pages; on the MOD Dwarf you have the pages and sub-pages system, which makes the 3 knobs (endless, which I feel is a plus here) multiply in 3 sub-pages and then that in 8 pages.
Anyway, my approach is/was always. I find the MOD Dwarf more versatile but more for a guitar (on floor) usage. The MOD Dwarf is perfect to mess around live with effects applied or on synth stuff or even vocals and so. Sometimes (i must say it), I just get a bit overwhelmed with so many knobs. Either I try to map everything on a plugin per page (and for that, there are not always enough) or I always have so much control over everything that I kind of forget what is where.
But both are great devices.
In summary (for me), the MOD Dwarf is perfect for floor usage with a little bit of interaction, the MOD Duo X is perfect to use effects to completely transform a sound.
