Is it possible to DIY a MOD duoX device?

I already own a dwarf and he works great. But I still want to have another mod device on my effects board. I noticed that mod audio has recently started to open source various materials for mods, so I would like to DIY one.
I’m wondering if it’s possible to DIY a duoX with the available open source material?
Is it possible that some of the material is currently open source, but key parts of the material are not?

One possible solution is to use the MODEP - Raspberry Pi Patchbox OS module.

Of course it misses the foot-switches and displays which are quite important for me, but when you think about going full DIY that should be a piece of cake in comparison to the full thing.

:saluting_face:This project is very cool. However, if the production can be fully functional, it is also necessary to paint the PCB and write the control software.

I now find that duoX has opened the pcb file, I just need to make a sample. The core board is also available in online stores. And it seems that duoX is better than the pi version in both software and performance.:smiley:

If you manage to fully reproduce a DuoX we’d of course love to see the process and result!

Indeed recently some more parts of the devices have been released like the source-code for the HMI (Human Machine Interface, aka the displays and device controls) which should make it easier to repair or reproduce the hardware.

Building your own device would be a very cool endeavour, so I’m intrigued by this thread.

In a more extreme situation, you could plug your guitar into your pc with a USB cable because you’ve built in a MOD device into your guitar

imagine, a guitar straight into a DI :stuck_out_tongue:

I have submitted the PCB file to the proofing company to make PCB, and I am also preparing to purchase the materials. I hope everything goes well. I’ll show guys my process here.

Well, there is the GTRS/Mooer guitar that can go straight into a DI: GTRS Guitars, Mooer GTRS Guitars int. Prof. 800 DN – Thomann

I own a faulty Duo X, I suspect it’s a simple fault for someone who knows what he is doing, like one faulty chip or something like that, but I wouldn’t take the time to test everything, order parts, solder etc.
So I’d be ok to send it to someone for a modest price.

Cool idea! If you don’t mind, please ask potential suppliers for price for more than one PCB. I might be interested in buying a PCB, too, and perhaps we could save some money.
