I need to replace the USB type A port

Wanting to connect my MIDI pedalboard, I put the USB cable into the USB type A port with the wrong angle and only noticed it after pushing a few times too many :expressionless: As a result, the pins in the connector are crimped and I’m not able to establish a connection anymore.

I have a friend who’s wanting me to help with soldering a new USB port to the board. After looking at the current port, he thinks I need a new port of the following type: “Amphenol ICC Right Angle, Through Hole, Socket Type A 2.0 USB Connector”. Can anyone confirm this would be the right choice? Is there anything in particular to pay attention to? Any suggestion on where to best buy such things?

Thanks! After some searching in the GitHub I found two types of USB A that are used for the Mod Duo X:

  • SAMTEC USB-A-S-F-B-VU
  • KUSBX-SLAS1N-B

I can find these online to order.
Also found the schematics for the USB type A connection, so seems like I have all the info I need.
