Gen~ to MOD, build system seems broken

I am very close to have this working as a cloud builder thing.
so far I have verified that we can push plugin bundles into a unit from the web (but will need a 1.13.3 bugfix release if we want to support this on chrome-based web browsers), and also got a nicely automated way to trigger builds and fetch its output.

it is taking longer than expected due to having to do quite a lot of other things in between, but it is progressing.
once it starts working I hope we can involve the community as well in order to give support for not just max-gen but also rnbo, faust, puredata and all sorts of things. since they all work in a similar fashion behind the scenes…

Replying to myself, the builder is now online at http://builder.mod.audio/
Requires a MOD unit running the latest 1.13.3 release and connected to the PC via USB.

Documentation about the service coming soon. Also we need to resume our talks with Cycling 74 for updating the MOD package on their side…

hi Falk,
doesn’t work for me:

I’m on win 10 using firefox
dwarf is connected via USB
steps:
upload gen_exported.h and gen_exported.cpp
press ‘build’
…build runs nicely, but throws ‘error 2’
press ‘upload’
…I get ‘no plugins found in bundle’

am I missing something?

same problem of @rbrt here… also a stupid gen~ in1 to out1 plugin fails to compile. Error 2 at the end of the building and then no plugins found in bundle. here the building log:

It seems there’s a problem on a line of code in DistrhoPluginMain.cpp… but i checked in GitHub - moddevices/mod-plugin-builder: MOD Plugin Builder and the “;” after the #define is not there…
is there something i can do on my side?

I did a test here and the MOD Cloud Builder works for me. Dwarf, Osx (Mojave), Chrome.
Just a strange thing, it add an underscore before the plugin’s name, i.e. “voltest” gives “_voltest” . No big deal…

means years. I subscribed to this forum on Mar 8, '21. Because the system for compiling and uploading gen~ was having problems and failed to compile. Since that date I did not be able to compile and upload gen~ plugins on my duo (which was the only thing i was interested in )
any help would be appreciated!

…there really seems to be some issue that needs investigation, as according to @zwabo it does work,on Osx, with Chrome.
in my case, win 10 and firefox, it doesn’t.
would be cool if the issue could at least be pinpointed and communicated via @falkTX to the community.

please upload the generated code that triggers this error.
it is the first time someone reported this to us, the expectation was that the max-gen builder was working flawlessly…

maybe a new max version does things slightly different now and breaks the build?

anyhow need to check the generated files to be sure

Your files don’t work with the Mod Cloud Builder on my system. Which Max/MSP version did you use ?My last builds ok were made with
version 8.2.2 (not the last one 8.6.2).

i was on latest 8.6.3… tried to step back to 8.2.2 and WORKS! so… problem is definitively on newer versions of max! thank you @zwabo finally i’m on the road again!

ok @zwabo … got it. the problem is the text file encoding

the first files i compiled (attached previously) were from a win pc, that saves text files with Windows CRLF end of line. NOT WORKING
then i tried with a mac compilation, that saves files in Unix LF end-of-line format. WORKS.

all tests done with latest Max 8.6.2. PC or MAC provides exactly the same .cpp .h files, except for line encoding. so, @falkTX, here is the issue.

In the meantime, it is always possible to take .cpp e .h files windows compiled and then just resave them with unix encoding LF.
