FM1 apocalypse and clock syncing

Welp, I was looking to add an external drum machine/sequencer at the right time, and am now the owner of one MVAVE FM1 with a second on the way. Clock drift seems wild though, trying to sync with the LP3 as well as another sequencer, have attempted both host sync with global clock send on, as well as running the “midi clock” effect out through the hardware port, to fairly unsatisfactory results-- I know there have been some past threads on this, but I haven’t yet figured out best practices, should I abandon use of my DuoX (or Dwarf, theoretically) as master clock and generate a clock pulse elsewhere to send into the MOD device? Should I then use host sync or run midi cables to the LP3 and use midi sync? Would greatly appreciate any tips.

Also I just tried the drone synth FM1 firmware, Niagara Falls, and it is fantastic. The whole thing is really fun, though I don’t know how serious it will be as a production tool for people. As a bonus, MVAVE did a good job spacing out the tiny knobs for chonk-finger usability.

What is an LP3?

My dwarf syncs well to external hardware midi, I just tried the “Midi Clock x42” sending the Ableton Live and it wasn’t that bad.

How long does yours take to drift?

I think it’s the Looperative plugin :

Thanks for the reply!

Yes the LP3 is the Looperlative plugin. It takes a few minutes before things get wildly out of sync, and I can see the tempo readout on the FM1 (when taking clock from Midi Clock x42 through hardware midi out) constantly fluctuating over the range of a couple bpm… I’m on DuoX, so maybe the recent Dwarf system updates handle midi clock better. I’m not sure, I’ll have to do some testing with the FM1 or something else as master clock, but would love more insight from others who deal with clock syncing different devices!

I had the same experience with my dwarf an the LP3 some time ago, midi sync problems, etc… so I stopped using the LP3 since then. But I never went into deep debugging, since midi sync worked without any issues on my other looper (Boomerang).
