Apologies if this has already been answered - I’ve searched the forums and haven’t been able to find an answer.
I’m looking for suggestions for an external a/b switch so I can switch back and forth from the mod chain and straight into the amp.
I’ve tried several devices and none work. I want to switch the output of my external tuner between the mod chain and straight into the amp. All the switches I’ve tried send one channel only and mute the other one.
hey @Dave_Parker … i’m slightly confused by your post. it seems like you want to send from one source (your tuner) to ~either~ the MOD or the amp. doesn’t that mean you DO want only one output active at a time (i.e. one does get muted)?
if you also want the option to send to both simultaneously, you could look at what’s commonly called an A/B/Y switcher. it has two switches. one switch toggles between A & B outputs, but when you hit the other switch (called Y), it sends to both simultaneously. so you have all the options (except muting both).
BOSS LS-2 Sounds like it does what you want. It will let you do all sorts of switching stuff, if you just use the A and B channels as sends rather than connecting back to the return and set it to toggle A/B it should work I believe.
You’re way ahead of me. I’m “totally confused”/“born confused”.
I wanted the option of going “straight into the amp” (via either cable or wireless system) or throught the mod chain. To that end I’ve tried several different “stomp boxes” to send the signal directly to the amp through one of two paths - “direct” or “mod chain”. I’ve decided to ditch that idea - at least for the time being - because it diverted me from my original goal which was to get either a “clean” signal (cable/wireless) or “effects chain/mod” to the amp.
In short - please ignore this thread entirely.
I’ll read through it and consider all the replies to this point and then delete the thread.
By now I’m sure most people have seen that a particular comment or reply is coming from me and they just ignore it. That’s probably a really good idea.
At some point I’ll start trying different hardware solutions again but this is a problem I’ve created for myself that really detracts from the modAudio process.
For this reason I think any questions from me about this particular issue should be ignored, and I’ll try to forget about this diversion as well. That’s not always easy for me to do, though.
For your own safety I urge you to stay away from me when I have a soldering iron in my hand, and any inanimate object will suffer greatly when I interact with it in this manner.
