As said the Dwarf will be an audio interface.
Is the chain option meant for other Dwarfs, i.o.w. could I buy an extra Dwarf and that way have a four channel input/output, for recording directly in my DAW?

No.
At the moment you cannot have 2 MOD units connected over USB and have them both work.
Could be a good feature and reason to sell more units when used this way…
