Duo X - Help needed understanding Snapshot function

Please - I really need help with this, since I getting tantalisingly close to getting the Duo X to do most of what I need it to do.

When I use either of the side buttons on my Duo X to save a snapshot it’s not clear whether anything is actually happening, and more importantly the snapshot(s) created on the Duo X** don’t seem to appear in the web GU**I.

I also cannot find where snapshots are stored on the Duo X, nor do I understand how to access them when disconnected from the web GUI. Can any of you explain this please?

When I create a snapshot in the web GUI I name or rename it, then save the pedal board - I get that, but then where are they stored on the Duo X? And why do the side LEDs not change condition to indicate a snapshot is available for that pedal board?

The Snapshots are stored in the pedalboard. Every time you create a new snapshot, in order to keep it, you will need to save the pedalboard after saving the snapshot.

Can you describe a bit better this? I may be now missing something, but I believe that the possibility of saving snapshots from the device is only available on the MOD Dwarf. With the MOD Duo X you can only save the current state as the default state.

Thank you @jon, but your statements doesn’t make sense, since the Duo X has two buttons - one on either side of the ‘Page’ selector button - which are specifically for saving or recalling Snapshots. The LEDs on these buttons also change colour for Snapshot saving or selection.
But even though when I save a Snapshot using either of those buttons, the new Snapshot does not appear in the Snapshot list on the web GUI. That is what I find confusing.
Also, when I instead save a Snapshot directly from the web GUI and save it along with the pedal board, - the Snapshot is not assigned to a button on the Duo X, so how can I access and change the name of a Snapshot in the Duo X?
And where is the list of Snapshots located on the Duo X itself?

Sorry, but you’re going to have to use Google translate or let me know which language you want me to translate into, if you’re still unclear about my query, because I don’t know how else to explain what I need to know.

I’m not a MOD Duo X user, I only have a Dwarf but maybe this helps:

  • don’t forget that when conencted to th webgui, 'on the dwarf) it is only possible to save snapshots via the webgui. Perhaps this is also the case on a Duo and you were trying to save a snapshot on the physical Duo while still being “connected to a device” mode?

The wiki (Duo X User Guide - MOD Wiki) states that a long press of such a button should hold the snapshot. THOGUH, the wiki speaks of “instant” snapshots, and 2 of them can be saved:

“There are two Instant Snapshots buttons you can use. They are the most left and right buttons at the top center part of the Duo X panel.”

Is it possible that there is a semantic mixup goign on between “instant snapshots” (2 aailable on the Duo, without an option for naming them) and the Snapshots (1 to many) you can save and name for the Dwarf via the webgui?

My apologies for the late reply. Thank you for making the effort to try and help. I think you’re right - it’s really confusing and counter-intuitive that when connected to the web GUI it’s not possible to access certain functions on the Duo X, such as pedal boards, banks and snapshots.
But my expectation was for a snapshot saved using the buttons on the Duo X to transfer to the web GUI so that the new snapshots could be renamed and saved along with the pedal board.
So I take it that this is not the way it works? So what is supposed to happen when one of the buttons is long-pressed to save a snapshot? If it’s not possible to name the snapshot, then how are we supposed to identify the new snapshot, and where should it appear? If I understand correctly, the new snapshot should appear under the snapshot list in the web GUI, but which is it? Is it the default snapshot? It really makes very little sense to me the way this has been designed to function - it seems like an after thought which wasn’t properly implemented - just like several other functions.
