Anyone here know if a mod version of Decent sampler is something that could be doable on the Mod dwarf / units?
A (decent) sampler with (decent) Adsr and filter controls is on my wish list. Pardon the puns.
Decent sampler is not opensource. I know it is based on JUCE, but that’s about it.
You would have to ask the developer (Dave Hilowitz) if they are up for porting it, but I think it is unlikely.
Only idea on using samples in MOD with existing tools that I can think of - is to use something like free Polyphone editor to make a soundfont from your samples.
However, looks like Die Fluid Synth plugin that can play soundfonts - has no ADSR controls, therefore whatever envelopes you need - they should be baked statically into a soundfont file itself
Probably you can edit envelopes in Polyphone:
Using SFZ with sfizz has been on our radar for a while.
One of their main developers has a Dwarf and has done some plugins, so I think this is likely the best approach when it comes to sampled instruments for the MOD platform.
While there is the DIE FluidSynth plugin it only does SF2 which is very limited in features.
SFZ is not a single-file kinda format, so using it on a MOD device is still a bit awkward sometimes but that gives an extra incentive to implement “upload entire folders” feature on the file manager.
I use SCP for that anyway. Having that in file manager would be more user friendly for sure, however.
Why not implement a “Package” upload instead? Only one ZIP file (the package) would be uploaded and the file manager would unzip and set the proper folder structure required automatically.
