Hi everyone,
when you look through the reviews regarding the Darkglass Anagram, the inbuilt Octaver Effect is often mentioned. Does anyone own the pedal already and can say something about it? Is it really that good?
I wanted to use the Dwarf Octaver a lot, but even on Hi-Fi the tracking on Bass isn’t that good.
And even more I wanted to use the Octave-UP with the Capo plugin, but that doesn’t track at all below C.
If the Anagram is really that good in this regard, is there any chance the improvements could be added to the MOD Octaver/Capo plugins?
Have you tried the whammy plugin offered on the MOD plugin store? I find this one tracks pretty well, but the slower attack of a violin’s bowstroke is a bit more forgiving than a bass’ strum/fingering.
Also, it could be just my imagination, but I think these pitch effects track a bit more tightly when one lowers the quality (I keep mine on normal/standard, not Hi-Fi).
I have used the MDA SubSynth - MOD Audio and the GxOC-2 - MOD Audio with six-string fretted and fretless basses and am quite happy with the results. I always use a CrossOver 2 - MOD Audiobefore the octaver with a cutoff of (I think) 100Hz to prevent sending really low frequencies to the amp/PA.
I have not experimented very much with octave-up, except for the built-in support in the (excellent) Shiroverb - MOD Audio plugin.
You can find an (oldish) example of how I use the SubSynth in a pedalboard here PH Bass 231227 - MOD Audio .
I use the Harmonizer for an octave down on bass and I like it, not too resource intensive, higher notes not terrible, tracking seems to work ok for me but your mileage may vary.
