Can the Control Chain port provide network access?
Simple question. The POE could be problematic.
Aside from GUI access it would be a way to provide Ableton Link and (maybe) more control options. That second thing is probably complicated 
control chain has nothing to do with networking.
the rj45 cable was picked because it is a common one, and does not disconnect when pushed

what is the Control Chain port on a MOD and what are the advantages of this port over a USB or MIDI port? At the moment I have only found photos of the 4 port device, the devices themselves are not available. Maybe someone can explain how perspective the interface is and how it is planned to be used in the future?
