C* AutoFilter

Can someone please explain to this noob what this plugin for and how am I expected to use it, and what are the many parameters intended to? How is it different or better than an autowah?

Are you familiar with the concept of audio filters? If yes I believe that the shared pedalboards may help you understand the plugin (especially those with audio)

I am familiar with filters ad a mathematical or electronic topic. I would like to know the use case and the parameters usage for that one,I have understood that it can be driven by an envelope follower or an oscillator, but what dept, freq, q , rate mean and how to use it?

You would probably be better either using it to see how the parameters effect the sound or Google similar to get an expanded explanation.

But in brief normally it means

Depth is the amount of sweep from shallow to deep

Frequency is the frequency area of the sound that you want to adjust like an EQ

Q is normally the size of the sweep from wide to narrow but like a parametric EQ

Rate is the speed of which the sweep takes places from super long to supper fast like a tremolo

Obviously that us a super simple explanation and I’m sure others will be able to provide a better description.

But my advice - don’t over think it. Just experiment with it. Sometimes not understanding makes for a more musical experience :rofl:

Thanks. I am experimenting but since there are so much different plugins and combinations it is an odissey… And, at least to me, after some time of experimenting, all sounds seems the same, just like when you enter a perfume boutique and after 5 minutes it all seems “white musk”

Yep I know what you mean as I own a microcosm :joy:

I try and put some like that at the end so it sweeps the whole sound but guitar wise it’s normally near front of the chain and acts like an auto wah type effect. There is no right or wrong what ever works best at that moment.
