Auto Input Selector - Summed Gain Reduction

Hello @jesse

Since that the auto input selector has a gain reduction option I was thinking on using it to help me on the gain staging of my pedalboards.
After testing it with signal generators and measuring with the level meter plugin none of the plugin outputs had its gain reduced.
The reduction is set to -6 dB at the plugin settings.

Can you help me better understand this function?

Hi @rogeriocouto,

The gain reduction only happens when both inputs are connected, and it only happens on the mono output of the plugin.

Because summing two signals causes a 6dB gain increase in the “worst case”, we can guarantee that the peak signal value on the mono output doesn’t exceed the peak signal value on the stereo output pair when the gain reduction is set to 6dB.

Please let me know if anything is unclear

Ok. I get it.

Both physical inputs must be connected.
I will not be able to use the way I thought.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
