2 dwarves one power supply

Anyone able to achieve this?

Maybe somekind of daisy chain power cable?

Would I then need 48w power supply?

What if each dwarf was running a 50% CPU would that make a difference?

The amount of messy cables I have to use at a gig makes me want to cry lol!

I run multiple 12V devices from the same power supply. You just need a splitter cable and a power supply with enough “oomph” to power all your devices and does not introduce much noise. 48W is safe for two dwarfs. The CPU influence on power is non-negligible, but I would not try saving a few watts there.

Thanks! Will maybe invest in a 48 watt supply with a splitter cable.

Cool! Splitter cable or daisy chain will work. What are the input voltages of your other devices? Perhaps there is some more cable mess reduction possible?!

Daisy chaining two multi effects is not a good idea, especially on live gigs where electricity can be very poor. I use Cioks DC7 to power Dwarf (single output rated 500 mA at 12V works great) and bunch of other pedals. Do you have something else to power besides 2 x Dwarf?

@Lukasz @eggsperde Thanks for your answers!

I use a MOTU ultralite for pre-amp, eq, compression and phantom power. 10-24v DC 6w it says on the back, it is super unfussy and I run it off a bog standard 12v power adapter

I also use a x4 socket extension cable with a surge protector built-in, the other thing in the pic is a FBV midi foot pedal which just runs off USB.

Is running splitter cables off a 48w power supply any more dodgy than running x2 24w power supplies? I literally know nothing about running splitter cables!

I love the idea of the Cioks, though it’s pricey, I’m sure its the business, a little out of my price range right now though.

What I don’t understand though is that on the website, Cioks say that there is x1 aux power output of 24v 2a, does this not mean running splitter cables for x2 Dwarfs anyway?

@Lukasz If you run the Dwarf off the 500mA/12v does that not mean 6watts? I thought the Dwarf needs 24W?

That 24V output is for the Crux, CIOKS 4, or CIOKS 8 expanders. The Crux provides high current to a 12V or 9V device. This is how I run my Dwarf, though it isn’t strictly necessary. Alternatively, you could use the 24V port to run a 24V device. Another plus for the DC 7 is that you also get a USB port, so you can power your FBV. Yes, CIOKS power supplies are expensive, but they’re very well built, and each port is isolated to minimize noise. They also fit underneath most pedalboards (1" thick). I believe other vendors also have solutions for powering high current devices like the Dwarf or other multiFX devices, but I don’t have any experience with them.

UPDATE: You can also use a cable like this to increase the current available to a single device.

None of them are without disadvantages. Having multiple power supplies can cause ground loops, and powering multiple devices from the same power supply could lead to added interference to the device further down the line. You might have a better chance with the Cioks, but I’d recommend trying the cheapest options available and getting more expensive if one approach does not work well enough. You could spend the saved money on Plugins for your dwarves

OTOH, the venue on the photo looks pretty big. If you are making music professionally, the price of professional equiptment might be considered an investment.
