2 dwarves 1 controller

Just bought a 2nd dwarf, founders edition, mainly as a backup unit but also very interested in using the two together to double up on CPU power and I/o

Anyone have any experience of using one midi controller on x2 units simultaneously? Was thinking of a USB splitter but can’t seem to find the right one. Or possibly midi thru one device to the next, daisy chain style?

Midi-thru would be your best option here.

USB-splitter sounds like it would not be within the USB spec?
Sounds dangerous anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Really straight forward with midi through the Dwarf !

Can I use control chain to connect two devices?

No, with control chain there is 1 master device.

The MOD unit will always need to be the master, so you cannot connect two MOD units together.

Thanks for the advice folks!

I connected the two devices with a standard, stereo 3.5mm jack to jack, then connected the virtual midi in to the midi out on the first device and my controller is now available to both devices!

@dreamer Do you know if it’s possible to send thru a footswitch state.

I want to use the footswitch on the 1st dwarf to also activate an effect on the 2nd…

This is not possible.

Would it be possible to use a control to CV and one or more infamous mindis to intercept the Dwarf1 footswitch event and trigger one or more MIDI events to Dwarf2?

I believe yes, as long you use a MIDI event to generate a new one, it should be straight forward.
