yeah, there are easy ways to do it in the GUI, but not from the box, and I tend not to have the GUI open on gigs… great for studio tinkering, less so for live work.
I agree that it can add a little too much chaos. A workaraound could be to save the default setting as a snapshot. But usually @DaveM is quite open to enhancing his plugins, unless he is already too deep into another awsome creation?
I could change the Pitch control to integer/whole steps. But I think it’s nice to have values in between. ![]()
Stretch should definitely be a continuous control. I could add a Freeze button there to internally set Stretch to 0% when enabled as a solution.
Another idea; you can assign a knob to Pitch/Stretch and specify a mapping with either the min or max value set to 0. Of course you lose the complete range of the knob. But at least you can always reach your target value.
I agree that a reset to the default value on double clicks is nice behavior. But it doesn’t look like standard behavior in MOD GUI.
I always have the same problem with the pitch parameter of some plugins, the only workaround I found for live situations is two CV controls, one fixed to Pitch=1, the other one variable and a switchbox…
thanks for working through so many possible solutions. I’ve no idea if MIDI mapping just allows for the 0 point to be a few percent ‘longer’ than the rest of it…
No, it doesn’t. But making 0 the upper or lower limit should make it easy to reach that value.
Here’s a new release for your device. And the MOD Desktop version like usual.
Changeset:
-
Added the Freeze parameter. This parameter disables the Stretch parameter and sets Stretch to zero.
-
Replaced unicode characters in the MOD UI with svg icons. Thanks @zwabo for sharing that screenshot. It made me notice the unicode characters are displayed differenly on different systems/browsers
I also moved the Stretch parameter. It’s now next to Scan & Spray. Because Scan, Spray & Stretch all control the start position of the grains.
Would anyone prefer Pitch to be set in whole steps instead of a floating point number?
Hey Dave, think that would be easier. Or maybe have a switch to toggle intervals or free numbers.
Cheers for all your work by the way. It’s always appreciated
And yes I have a TOUCHOSC layout for it ![]()
