I have downloaded the latest version on my Duo and it works now.

Thanks!

Everything works except the snapshot that Cardinal deploys on the mod plug…

Hi! Thank you for this! The Mod environment is constantly challenging and inspiring learning in music/computer tech. Being mostly an acoustic player, my level of computing leaves me lost. But even more eager to learn
I am on Mac Catalina and MOD DUO. I was able to download the package and install.
Lv2/VST/VST3 plugins are in their folders. They show up in ableton 10, but with no gui. So how to control anything? I am not able to open the Cardinal rack itself in standalone mode. I also tried to download VCV rack 2 and try to load the Cardinal plugins/modules there but no luck. The closest is maybe when i try to load the “VCV file” and get a error message saying that it cannot find “midi host” and a few another things. But maybe going through VCV RACK is unnessesary? If there is an easy fix, then please help. If you need more info (screenshots etc.) let me know! The plugin works and does not crash during opening in mod duo.

This doesn’t seem possible.

Neither this.

Yet, this is weird. it should open normally. Have you tried to click on that little button on the plugin section of Ableton that opens the plugin UI?

Yes it is. The Cardinal is its own thing based on VCV, but not VCV.

Please direct any support questions to https://github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal/issues

For standalone use you need to have JACK audio installed and running. This is pretty much only meant for testing purposes and you miss out on a lot of host integrations.

The Cardinal specific modules are obviously not compatible with the regular Rack2Free (or Pro) so there is no point in trying to open patches in there, since they won’t work.

The VST3 build is very experimental right now, so lets ignore that for now. If you are seeing a specific issue with opening the VST2 UI in Ableton 10, please report it on GitHub so that others can investigate. Can you open it in any other DAW/plugin host?

The Cardinal project is not by MOD so best to keep all support requests centralized on the issue tracker.

I haven’t tried it yet as I’m still waiting for my Dwarf to the sent. One day.

But this looks amazing. Great work on attempting such a thing. I’m a guitarist/bassist but also a heavy modular user so very curious on the development of this. Nice work!

Hi! I had some time today and now it works. Both with Duo and MDX. This is huge! Already had so much fun! Big ups to FalkTX!

That’s an amazing module. Thanks so much for making it available. Since I use the ModDuoX as part of a synth setup, I would really need to be able to assign midi channel on the Host Midi module. I would like to sequence more than one synth with the Rack sequencers.

just right click and select a channel then.

Sorry if I ask you the question again, so if I were to use CARDINAL with Plateau reverb and wanted to map dry / wet to MOD DUO I couldn’t get it right? Can I currently use Cardinal’s CV / LFO sequencers but without the MOD control?

You can use “host params” to have plugin parameters control stuff inside the Rack.
Eventually I want to have a module that directly controls parameters from the plugin-exposed side, maybe in April…

Let me try to demonstrate this with a shared pedalboard…

Here you go.
With this pedalboard the parameter 1 controls “dry”, and parameter 2 controls “wet”.
I mapped these in a Dwarf, so not sure if the addressings will apply nicely on a Duo, but you can readdress these controls as usual anyway.

EDIT: actually something seems wrong with the upload…
investigating

I know so, it does not load… :relaxed:

I updated the link, this new one works.
Seems there is something wrong with the build I was using, but good thing to notice since it was the coming-soon 1.12, seems it has a regression…

Unfortunately it doesn’t work, I still haven’t been able to figure out how to map the dry / wet :frowning:

Then you have to tell me in more exact terms what doesnt work.
I made that new PB on a duox, and loaded it on a dwarf. dry and wet controls as seen on the device assignments work as we expect.

Is your MOD up to date? Cardinal requires 1.11.2 or higher
